Wayla

Wayla is an innovative start-up that was born in Milan to address an everyday problem: the lack of options for getting around the city, especially in the evening and night time. In all major Italian cities, in fact, the data speak for themselves: up to 40 percent of cab requests are not accepted, causing enormous inconvenience to residents, commuters and tourists. Therefore, building an alternative is necessary and can no longer be postponed.

After several months of authorization requests and the first pre-seed capital raising of €900k, the van-pooling shared urban transportation service offered by Wayla has officially been operational since October 2024. Through apps, users can book door-to-door rides in vans driven by professional drivers that follow dynamic routes built by a real-time algorithm to encourage sharing. The fleet, initially consisting of five vans, has now increased to nine, with five more electric vehicles on the way. The service operates five evenings a week from 7:30 p.m. and has already transported more than 13,000 people with an average ride rating of 4.9/5.

The model is designed to scale: optimizable operating costs, anticipated revenue through digital payments, and opportunities for expansion to other cities. The goal is to promote a mode of transportation based on safety, ubiquity and convenience, but also to build a real community that shares the value of sustainable urban mobility that is accessible to all.

The project has already attracted strategic partners in mobility (Flixbus, Terravision, Movesion) and academia, consolidating its presence in key sectors of urban demand.
