SmartMicroOptics is an innovative startup that was born as a spin-off of the Italian Institute of Technology. It develops and produces micro lenses to be combined with smartphones and tablets, able to transform these common devices into macro cameras or portable digital microscopes.
SMO's mission is to give everyone the tools to explore the microscopic world.
SMO operates in different markets, such as digital photography - whose CAGR is expected to grow by 6.1% until 2021 - and education technology - for which it estimates a turnover of 252 billion dollars by 2020.
To date, SMO has around 15,000 customers in over a hundred countries, with distributors in seven countries internationally.
