Drop Digital Health is an innovative start-up born in 2023 from the intuition of three professionals who share a single vision: to make motor rehabilitation accessible and more effective for millions of people. David Ferrini, with more than 14 years of experience in R&D and 8 in health-tech, Natalia Martone, an expert in life sciences and clinical project management, and Federica Petrucci, a full-stack developer with a solid technological background, founded the startup in 2023. The project grew out of their experience in "Drop," an SME that developed more than 20 medical devices in 15 therapeutic areas, collaborating with 988 physicians and assisting 2,355 patients.
Their flagship product, K-HERO®, is a Med-Tech solution for tele-rehabilitation based on artificial intelligence and computer vision, designed to eliminate the need for sensors or wearable devices. The idea for the product stems from the fact that 42 percent of the population needs motor rehabilitation, yet 37 percent do not receive adequate support (Source: World Health Organization) due to the following reasons: lack of physical therapists, economic and geographic barriers. K-HERO® is the solution created to democratize rehabilitation care. With 24 clinical protocols and 150 configurable exercises, K-HERO® enables faster and more efficient motor rehabilitation than traditional methods. The business model is B2B2C, with clinics and hospitals as core customers. The startup offers a dual business approach: direct sales of the devices with three-year licenses and a pay-per-use model.
The global health-tech market, estimated at $375.99 billion in 2022, will grow to $1,965 billion by 2030 (CAGR of 23.3%). In the motor rehabilitation segment, K-HERO® stands out as a patient-centric solution that combines technological innovation with documented clinical outcomes.
Fundraising will be used to recruit qualified and commercial staff and to support direct marketing activities. In addition, the development plan is to activate the B2C channel to further expand the offering.
