The "City of Chocolate" project consists of the creation of a next-generation experiential museum, housed withinPerugia's former Covered Market, a publicly owned property. The museum will cover 2,800sqm, and will also include the creation of an interactive chocolate factory, a "choco-shop" and a chocolate bar.
The Chocolate City represents an innovative fusion of culture, urban regeneration and social responsibility, leveraging the strong identity value that chocolate holds in the Umbrian capital. The desire is to create a major tourist attraction capable of generating a strong inducement in the area and to become a replicable project in other Italian locations and abroad.
The idea comes from Eugenio Guarducci, founder of Eurochocolate, one of the best-known international events in the chocolate sector, which has been held in Perugia for 30 years, with more than 800,000 visitors per single edition.
Several local and national entrepreneurial entities immediately embraced the idea, becoming partners and bringing their know-how, including Coopculture, a leader in Italy in museum management; Bee for Impact, active in the social economy; Orizzonte Nove, a leading player in the creative and cultural industry; and Sifra, active in the tourist accommodation sector. Some of the members represent prominent figures in local and national business associations.
For the evaluation of the business project, the company has prepared a business plan sworn by the well-known advisory firm Nomisma, according to which it expects an influx of 370,000 annual visitors as early as the third year.
Destination Chocolate S.r.l. SB has already obtained financing to help cover the entire construction of the work, all also through Invitalia through the Italia Economia Sociale measure of MIMIT.
The Chocolate City is set to become a landmark for chocolate lovers and aninvestment opportunity in a project with significant financial resources already deliberated and an experienced entrepreneurial team.
