The genesis of BEPI was inspired by the need to address deficiencies in the Italian nursing system by identifying an automated solution to improve efficiency in drug administration. The project was born from the vision of Marco Scardino, head of anesthesia, supported by an experienced team eager to introduce innovations in healthcare.
According to recent studies [1], about one in four patients suffers an adverse event during their hospitalization, and almost half of these are due to errors in drug administration. In Italy, in 2023, out of more than 7 million hospitalizations, an estimated 700,000 potentially preventable errors occurred. In an ideal system, one nurse follows 6 patients ; unfortunately, severe staff shortages often lead to managing more than twice as many, and this generates delays, errors and complications.
BEPI is the answer to this problem: an innovative automated dispenser that ensures timely and correct administration of oral therapies directly at the patient's bedside. Designed in response to the severe nursing shortage at the Italian and international level, BEPI eliminates errors, delays and potential complications, offering a concrete solution to maximize the safety and efficacy of hospital care. he revenue model is recurring, based on the association between the dispenser and the patient through an identification bracelet, the hospital's fee is a function of the individual patient's days of care.
Our multidisciplinary team - led by Roberto Schibuola (CEO), Marco Scardino (Head of Anesthesia) and Francesco Tasso (Anesthesiologist and Chairman), along with Engineers, Nurses and biomedical market experts - combines medical and technological expertise to revolutionize hospital healthcare. With a solid traction and over 1,000,000 euros already raised in equity and soft financing, we are ready to launch BEPI on the national and international hospital market.
With the Mamacrowd campaign, we want to raise funds to complete the industrialization activities of the BEPI system, perform the necessary operational field (hospital) testing, launch mass production with the purchase of the molds for the patterned components, increase the workforce, and impetuously promote the launch to the Italian and international markets
