STARTUP

Many of you will remember Loquis, the Italian travel podcast platform that ran an equity crowdfunding campaign on Mamacrowd in 2020 with 109 investors for a total of €824,230. Loquis recently featured in a funding round worth €3.78 million led by P101 SGR.

A Record Capital Increase

The financing deal was successfully concluded in late 2023, thanks to a capital increase round led by P101 SGR, a leading Italian venture capital player with a European focus. P101 invested €2.2 million in Loquis through the Program 103 and Azimut Eltif Venture Capital P103 funds, with support from the European Union under the InvestEU Fund.

Strategic Collaborations to Support

The capital round attracted strategic investors such as Lazio Innova, which entered through Lazio Region's INNOVA Venture fund, along with PiCampus and CDP Venture Capital.

In addition, a number of business angels, who have supported Loquis since its inception, including Carlo Feltrinelli, contributed to the success of the deal. Overall, the capital increase saw an increase of €3.78 million, of which €2.7 million came from new investors and €1.1 million through conversion of equity instruments and convertendo agreements.

The Success of the Platform

Loquis in 2023 doubled both its audience figures and its revenues, consolidating its leading position in the Italian travel podcasting market. The platform, developed completely in-house, uses the most advanced technologies to create a unique and engaging user experience, as summarized in the new payoff: "Loquis, a World of Stories," which accompanies the brand's new visual identity from March 2024.

Looking to the future

The capital increase will enable Loquis to undertake new initiatives to develop the platform and expand the business internationally.

The entry of professional investors such as P101 and Lazio Innova is clear evidence of the growing interest VCs are showing in companies already validated by the market through Mamacrowd.
