KIPPY

SCALEUP

M&A

You may remember Kippy, a company specializing in creating IOT devices for tracking and monitoring pet health.

It was a nice success story for the Italian scale-up, which saw the completion of two equity crowdfunding rounds on Mamacrowd: the first in 2019, raising €1.1 million from 242 investors , and the second in 2021, raising €1.2 million from 87 investors, including Azimut Libera Impresa through the AZIMUT ELTIF - Venture Capital ALIcrowd II fund.

The acquisition

Kippy was acquired by Swiss company Datamars, a world leader in identification and data management solutions in the pet, livestock and textile sectors.

Through this transaction, coordinated by advisor M&A Growth Capital, Datamars consolidates its presence in the global market and expands the range of services offered to pet owners.

The Story

Kippy was born in 2013 in Milan from the passion of Marco Brunetti and Simone Sangiorgi, who joined forces to create technological devices that can track the activity and location of pets in real time and provide detailed information to their owners via a smartphone app.

The GPS collar device quickly conquered the European market, attracting the interest of Datamars, which sees Kippy as an attractive partner to expand into other markets, thanks to its strong presence in North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

Kippy will now represent an important part of Datamars' dedicated pet ecosystem, ranging from identification to health and activity monitoring to reunification solutions, supported by a digital environment for clients and support services.
