How much Europe invests in startups

How much Europe invests in startups

Startup-europa

The 2016 edition of SEC2SV, Startup Europe Comes to Silicon Valley, in San Francisco was an opportunity to take stock of European investments in innovation and startups.
The important Californian event featured 18 scaleups that were able to meet American financiers and venture capitalists in the hope of becoming the next unicorns of the Old Continent.
The premises speak for themselves: the finalist projects - operating in the e-commerce, security and healthcare sectors, among others - have been able to raise 60 million euros in recent years with a total of over a thousand employees.
At the opening of the event, the study "Startup Transatlantic M&As. US vs EU", carried out by Mind the Bridge, co-organizer of the event, and Crunchbase, was presented. The data shows that82% of the companies acquired between the US and Europe since 2012 are American companies, with investments of over 500 billion dollars; among the 15 most important operations, 11 are located in the Silicon Valley area.
Zooming in on the European market in the last four years, about 57 billion dollars have been invested, but also on the operations finalized in Europe there is the American hand: 562 deals in fact bear the signature of U.S. companies (44% of the total), against 709 deals operated by European companies.
Marco Marinucci, CEO and founder of Mind the Bridge, when asked by IlSole24Ore about the role of Europe in the future of international innovation, pointed out that there are two catalyst trends: on the one hand the constant fascination with Silicon Valley with the consequent risk of a "congestion" of the Californian ecosystem, on the other hand the large global corporations looking for contamination and innovation solutions that can be integrated with their own development plan in sectors such as data storage, e-commerce fashion, online advertising, social networks, enterprise healthcare and Internet of Things.

Speaking instead of Italian startups, on our equity crowdfunding platform is still open theoffer of 64 Club Italia Investimenti 2 on which you can invest from 100 euros.
