The world of Italian Innovation returned to Rimini on 15, 16 and 17 July for the ninth edition of the Web Marketing Festival.

The agenda of this 2021 edition offered more than 100 events including Live Concerts, Film Screenings, but above all Business and Networking and Training, which has always been the heart of the WMF, with 60 rooms and more than 600 speakers from all over the world.

The hybrid mode

The entire program could be enjoyed in two ways: in person at Rimini's Palacongressi and online, thanks to the interactive platform, which allowed participants connected at home to interact live both with the speakers and with the other participants, for an all-round comparison and training, and thanks to which, last year, more than 24,000 attendees were registered only online.

The new World Startup Fest

Also for the WMF2021 one of the most anticipated events was the Startup Competition with Mamacrowd among the judges, but not only: the novelty of the year was the World Startup Fest, a container of events, appointments and opportunities for discussion and comparison entirely dedicated to the world of Startup and Scaleup.

The aim is to become a global reference point for the creation of an ecosystem of innovative and sustainable entrepreneurship, developing in a new direction, the role of accelerator for innovation played by the WMF in recent years.

"The last 12 months have shown how important it is to cooperate at national and international level on the themes of innovation and entrepreneurship." explains Cosmano Lombardo, creator of the WMF and CEO of Search On.

"During the last calls dedicated to the Startup Competition, the number of applications from all over the world increased, not only from startups, but also from scaleups. As a result, we decided to create the World Startup Fest within the WMF: an event that includes events and initiatives with different formats but with the sole objective of creating an international ecosystem to use entrepreneurship also for social purposes".

The winners of the Startup Competition

Always a central element of the WMF, the Startup Competition has a history of over 3,300 applications from all over the world received in the past eight editions. This year's finalists were selected from over 500 applications: DeepMammo, Hexagro, MyLeg, Recornea, Toothpic, VoiceMed, coming from Luxembourg, Switzerland and Italy. They introduced topics such as cybersecurity, medical care and agrifood . The 2021 edition was won by:

  • My Leg, the Swiss startup to improve mobility and promote the integration of cognitive prosthetics, won the audience prize, worth €10,000 in digital marketing consulting services, awarded by Search On Media Group.
  • Recornea, which developed the first metal corneal implant to restore the physiological curvature of the cornea, won the jury prize awarded by UniCredit Start Lab, the UniCredit project aimed at young entrepreneurs and innovative startups.
